Overview
- Appearance
- Nicotiana glauca is a perennial shrub or small tree that can grow up to 25 ft. (7.6 m) tall.
- Foliage
- Leaves are alternate, bluish to gray green in color, 1-4 in. (2.5-10.2 cm) long, pointed, and elliptic to oval shaped.
- Flowers
- Flowers are yellow, tubular, 1.25-2 in. (3.2-5 cm) long, and found in clusters at the end of the branches. Flowers bloom from early spring to late summer.
- Fruit
- Fruits are egg-shaped, 0.28-0.39 in. (7-10 mm) long, and has two compartments. Seeds are very small and dark brown in color.
- Ecological Threat
- N. glauca prefers open sites including stream beds, and roadsides. It is native to South America. All parts of Nicotiana glauca are extremely poisonous.
