Thanks. No, it doesn't produce an edible fruit. Although this is its first flowering I'm a bit relieved that after the flowers die everything falls off and no seed pods are developing. It's in the same plant family as the African Tulip Tree and that is a very bad invasive plant that produces a lot of seed.

Thanks for the info, I've never before even seen photos of this dramatic flowering species. The blooms look like they carry a lot of nectar!

There's a very dark fluid in the bottom of the flower which looks like nectar apart from the colour. I tasted it and it's a bit bitter, not sweet. Never see any insects around the flowers so I don't know what the purpose of the fluid is.

That's interesting that you never see insects, then again the nectar might not be to their liking, gorgeous flowers none the less!

I've got a few interesting ones, none flowering at the moment. The largest and most unusual one that has flowered would be Amorphophallus gigas.
