Loosestrife is our native perennial from moist meadows and ditches. Even though it is a water-loving plant it can grow in locations which may temporarily dry out completely in summer. It produces masses of small purple pink flowers on thin stems which keep on moving in the wind or just a small breeze. It is ideal for English-style perennial borders and cottage gardens.

Blush is an exceptionally light pink flowering variety of purple loosestrife. They are larger than on most purple pink varieties and open from the bottom upwards, usually from late July until early September on about 60-90 cm tall, hairless stems. Leaves are narrowly lance-shaped, willow-like, medium green, deciduous. Beware of drying out when the plant is prone to powdery mildew.

Loosestrife will grow in virtually any soil, preferably in moist of water-logged conditions in full sun. It may self seed so unless you with the plant to spread remove flowered stems as soon as flowers have faded out. Cutting the plant back to some 5 cm above soil level right after flowering will encourage production of new, handsome foliage in late summer. Hardy to about -40°C (USDA zone 4).
