Neomarica neomarica is a rhizomatous, herbaceous perennial, best grown en-masse to allow a steady stream of flowers during spring/summer.
Grows in clumps of sword shaped leaves. In spring and summer produces masses of beautiful short lived flowers. The fragrant flowers are iris-like the outer tepals are white with orange/brown pattern at base; the inner tepals are purple with orange brown central markings.
Neomarica is also known as the walking iris, this is because pups are produced on tips of the flower stems, weighed down by the pup the stem bends over allowing the new plant's roots to grow into the soil and the plant to spread.
Easy to look after, great display in pots or along garden borders.
