Castanospermum australe is a fast growing evergreen tree that grows naturally in rainforests and therefore love a warm moist environment.
It has a broad, dense crown a top a stout trunk and the compound leaves are a glossy dark green and look very lush but beware they are toxic.
From late spring to summer spectacular yellow and orange pea-shaped flowers appear that grow along the branches.

These are really large trees and are best planted in big gardens or parks where they make great shade trees.
