Ehrharta calycinaCommon name: Perennial Veldt Grass
Meaning of name: Ehrharta honours Friedrich Ehrharta (1742 – 1795), a Swiss botanist. Calycina is from the Latin words calyx and inus, meaning like a calyx. Botanically it is applied when the calyx is somehow unusual.
Distribution: Occurs from Geraldton to Esperance.
Remarks: A tufted perennial to 80 centimetres tall. The reddish-purple flowers are produced mainly in August and September. Native to South Africa.
