It might be devastating to know the name Candytuft has nothing with candy. Yeah, it's a bummer. This candy name comes from the name Candia which is an old name for the port city of Heraklion located in Crete.
This is a Candytuft (Iberis umbellata) mix of mostly white, lavender, and a possible splattering of rose color here and there. Before the spent blooms fade to brown the little petals are shed exposing a brilliant green series of seed pods that are just as beautiful as the flowers (in the opinion of this shop) .
It's an easy flower to grow and blooms Spring to Fall. It isn't picky about soil, doesn't need much maintenance, tolerant of some shade, and reseeds easily. The seed can be planted directly outdoors from Fall through mid-summer. As an added plus, they don't attract a lot of pests.
All seeds are hand gathered and so the packet may have little bits of dried flower fluff. There are well over 100 seeds in each packet.
