SASA foresees exports of 350 million US Dollars in 2021
SASA Polyester Industry Inc. Member of the Board of Directors Mehmet Şeker reminded that when they took over SASA, its turnover was 1 billion TL and continued to express that they now have a turnover of close to 12 billion TL. Şeker stated the following regarding the investments of the company: ‘‘We established a new facility producing 1050 tons of fiber. Again, we established a facility that can produce 900 tons of textile and, if necessary, bottle chips. We established a thousand tons/day poy and yarn plant. We have established a facility that produces approximately 3 thousand tons of additional production per day, excluding improvements. The reflections of these investments can be seen in both the turnover and the number of employees.’’
Mehmet Şeker, declared that they foresee a growth of 60 percent this year, continued as follows: ‘‘Most probably, we will achieve a 100% increase in our turnover. While we are closing 2020 with a figure of 720 million US Dollars on USD basis, we will close 2021 with 1 billion 400 million US Dollars this year. Last year, we realized exports amounting to 176 million US Dollars. This year, we aim for 350 million US Dollars. Currently, our export figure has exceeded 250 million US Dollars.’’
Mehmet Şeker, underlining that they aim for SASA to be among the top 10 companies in Turkey in 2023, indicated the following: ‘‘SASA’s current value is over 4 billion US Dollars. We are one of the top 20 companies in terms of valuation. We will be one of the top 20 companies in 2022, and we aim to be in the top 10 in 2023. When our project in Yumurtalık comes to life, we will be a global company that has realized all its investments by 2030 and has an annual turnover of around 30 billion US Dollars.’’
‘‘We Will Produce the Raw Material of Fiber in Turkey’’
Saying that SASA made an investment of 1 Billion US Dollars in order to produce the raw material of the fiber, Şeker finalized his statements as follows, ‘‘We produce enough fiber to meet Turkey’s needs. Our goal is to manufacture the raw material of the fiber. We are investing approximately 1 billion US Dollars in PTA, that is, purified terephthelic acid, and we initiated the process for this. We are currently working on ground improvement, where the facility is to be built. We agreed with a Spanish construction company as a turnkey delivery. When this place is built, we will have produced the raw material of the fiber in Turkey instead of importing approximately 1.5 million tons of it. Therefore, we will have made a great contribution to Turkey’s current account deficit. We have to produce the raw material to reach the level of countries with high export potential. We strive for this.’’
