Injury

  • A/F : injury by sharp pointed object such as nail, or by any kind of insect bites which causes punctured wound
  • Location : it acts anywhere in the body on punctured wound, especially in haemorrhage in anterior chamber of eye (arn.).
  • Character of pain : stinging, tearing and throbbing pain. Pain as if sprained in ankle.
  • Character of ledum injury : affected part feels cold to touch, but not cold subjectively to the pt. 
  • Suppose an injury occured by stepping on a nail. And a sole of foot is injured, we can think for hypericum as it affects nerves of that area, but if we give ledum at once, it will cure the punctured injury and will also prevent tetanus as well. 
  • Concomitant : long-remaining discoloration after injuries. 




Rheumatism / Extremities 

  • A/F : deposition of uric acid in joints. 
  • Location : starts with small joints especially of foot like toe, fingers, ankle. 
  • Character of pain : tearing pain, feels as if sprained in ankle. 
  • Direction of pain : ascending
  • Character of ledum rheumatism : pain goes from right hip to left shoulder. The affected part is cold to touch, gout stones may also present. 
  • Modalities : aggravation - heat of bed, touch, motion, night. 
  • Amelioration - cold, by putting feet in icy cold water.
