Veronica repens ‘Sunshine’

This lovely, mat-forming perennial will brighten up any garden! The cheerful golden-yellow oval leaves light up a shady corner or pathway. It is mostly grown for its petite foliage, but will bloom with clusters of small, pearl-white flowers for a brief time in the spring.

It grows 1-2”H x 6-12”W. Due to it’s low, mat-growing nature, ‘Sunshine’ makes an excellent ground cover for rock gardens. It can handle some foot traffic, which makes it work wonderfully between stepping stones. The golden color makes a nice contrast to blue or purple flowering companions [see photo below.]

It thrives in partial to full sun and has average water needs. ‘Sunshine’ prefers evenly moist soil with good water drainage. This evergreen plant can be easily divided by pulling apart clumps into smaller pieces and then replanting 6-12” apart. It’s recommended that any accumulated leaves should be raked off in late fall to prevent smothering in winter.

This Mediterranean native plant is deer and rabbit resistant, hot dry site tolerant, and seaside/salt tolerant.

The Sunset Climate Zones are 3-9, 14-24.

We are currently growing Veronica repens ‘Sunshine’ in 4.5” pots.
