We will start by confusing you. In spite of its botanic name - "used by fullers" - this is NOT the Fullers' Teasel! This plant is a native species found in copses, rough pasture and along stream-banks and roadsides and must surely be one of the most popular flowers for drying as flower arranging material. Apart from that, it is an attractive (particularly to bees and butterflies) and easily grown plant. One particularly interesting feature is that the opposite pairs of stem leaves are joined together forming a cup in which water collects. However, immensely attractive though the dried flower-heads are, the prickly bits (receptacular bracts to be accurate) are too flexible for use in combing cloth. 6ft (1.8m)
