Removal of Spathodea campanulata (African Tulip Trees) from street plantings in Brisbane.
Removal of Spathodea campanulata (African Tulip Trees) from street plantings in Brisbane.
Why this petition matters
These trees may look nice but they pose a real threat to our native sting-less bee colonies by killing them quite rapidly when the nectar ferments. Please help to remove these trees from our streets and help our native bees thrive in the suburbs.
Native bees are extremely important pollinators of various food crops and without them we will be relying solely on imported bees for pollination.
These trees have been planted in suburban areas and used commonly as street trees. Sign the petition and let the Brisbane City Council know you care for our native bees and want the tree removed immediately!.
