Native to the forests of New Zealand, Hoheria sexstylosa 'Stardust' is an upright, evergreen shrub with glossy green leaves and masses of pure-white flowers from mid to late summer. These flowers are particularly eye-catching against the green foliage and once established make this a stunning garden plant.

Hoheria sexstylosa 'Stardust' will generally grow best in a sunny position, sheltered from strong winds.


  • Position: Sheltered position in full sun or light, dappled shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
  • Hardiness: Reasonably hardy. Hoheria sexstylosa 'Stardust' requires shelter from cold winter winds and can drop some leaves in cold winters.
  • Flowering Period: July - August.
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Hoheria sexstylosa 'Stardust' grows to be an upright, densely branching large shrub or eventually, small tree.
    • Height: 6 - 8 m (20 - 26 ft)
