This is a nice midsized clumping bamboo from the Eastern Himalayas. One of the best features of the crassinodus is the cane colors. With age, the canes on it range from blue/grey to red and green. Canes exposed to just a little sun light will turn red. As the canes age the red will fade to blue/grey/green. Mature canes have slightly swollen nodes. The crassinodus is best suited for cooler summer areas with mild winters. The foliage on it is narrow, small and more sparse than other bamboos. Its growth is vase shape and up to 20' under ideal conditions, usually 15'-18'. The Crassinodus does very well in shade with just a little morning sun with rich, moist soil.
