Asparagus Falcatus aka Sicklethorn

Asparagus Falcatus aka Sicklethorn

Hello!

Thank you for choosing us as your plant providing service! We are so happy to work with you. We are pleased to introduce you to our friend Asparagus Falcatus aka Sicklethorn.

This is a variety of asparagus with long sickle-shaped shiny green leaves from South Africa. It is a robust, vigorous climber with thorns on older, woody stems. It is extremely easy to look after and fast growing. Attractive tiny white flowers appear in late summer which sometimes develop into small, red berries. Asparagus falcatus can reach a height of 3 m unless pruned to required height.

PLANT CARE:

  • Bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight may scorch the needles, whereas insufficient light may turn them yellow and cause them to drop.
  • Water regularly to keep the soil moist. It can however survive short periods of drought. Less water is required during the winter.  Using a Sustee Moisture Meter stick helps to figure out how much moisture is in the soil so you don’t under or overwater.
  • It has good resistance to heat but not to cold. Needs a minimum of 10 °C in winter.
  • Does not need a great deal of feeding. You can feed monthly with a weak solution during the growing season.
  • Due to their vigorous growth habit, Asparagus Falcatus may become pot bound. If required, re-pot in spring. To repot this plant, you will need 1 pack of For My Plants potting mix for the most loved houseplants.
  • Trim in winter/early spring to maintain desired size and shape.
  • Toxic. May cause skin allergy/fruits are harmful if eaten.

We do take a good care of our green creatures in the "jungle office" but those are living beings, it's better to watch them for some while, let them adapt and in this way keeping yourself from some surprises.

Every new plant owner is a valuable asset to our plant-lover community, so don't hesitate to share your thoughts, poems, or feedback, using #easypotfamily, tagging us, or writing to @easy_pot on Instagram. Also, we would really appreciate if you could leave us a review on our EASYPOT Facebook page. Even a tiny little one sentence means a lot to us! :)

May you and Asparagus Falcatus live happily ever after!
