Osmunda cinnamomeum, commonly called cinnamon fern for its cinnamon brown fruiting spikes, is a low-maintenance native fern that thrives in shady, wet locations. Found in nature along boggy, stream bed areas, cinnamon fern typically grows to two or three feet tall, but can reach heights of five feet when provided with adequate moisture.

A great choice for naturalized plantings, woodland gardens, or shady and perpetually wet areas, this adaptable native fern makes a dramatic statement in landscape and woodland settings. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, ferns are important species for their erosion control and use as host plants by larval butterflies and moths.
