Chaetocarpus castanocarpus PERACEAE fallen ripe fruits. Previously listed as EUPHORBIACEAE in many publications.

When the ripe fruits split open they expose 4 shiny black seeds topped by a red aril. The aril is very popular both with birds at canopy level and rats,deer and pigs at ground level. Photo María Fernanda González Giraldo

This individual plant grows on the left hand side  of the walkway next to the 3rd Tower of the Belalong Canopy Walkway.
