Normally I think of Lobelia hanging in baskets and cascading over window boxes, but this one has a more exciting life; you can see it below perched on the cliff edge at Victoria Falls.
This particular species is Lobelia kirkii, and it can only be found in the Victoria Falls area. It is named after Dr John Kirkii, who spent time in the area with David Livingstone in 1858.

It’s kinda weird seeing garden flowers in the wild! One of the things that fascinates me here in Provence is seeing various shrubs in their natural habitat on the garrigue as well as gorgeous spring flowers which just popped up on the mountains with no help from mankind – grape hyacinth, “alpine” daffodils, crocuses, lily of the valley….
