Erica Fernandes: I have played strong characters. Now, I want to explore different genres

Erica Fernandes is enjoying the time she has these days, where she is relaxed and catching up on things that she could not give time and attention to while shooting for her last show, 'Kasautii Zindagi Kay 2'. The show wrapped up last year and Erica says that life has been relaxed since it ended. “I have more time now to spend time with my close ones, and to do things I could not do because I was shooting, as it would get too tiring and hectic.It’s giving me the sense of living a normal life. It is like a breath of fresh air and I am enjoying this phase. I know a lot of my fans are missing seeing me on TV screen, but I am trying to be out there so that they don’t miss me that much. I am taking some time out before I begin a new project,” she says.
Erica, who did two music videos amid the pandemic, says the experience wasn’t much different, as she had already started shooting for her show by then. “What was different was flying out of Mumbai and shooting in Goa. That was a new experience. The travel was different, and the precautions that were taken during the travel – that was a different experience altogether. Otherwise, everything was smooth sailing,” she says.

‘Want to do comedy, negative roles’
Going ahead, Erica wants to explore different genres and play different roles. She says, “So far, I have played nice, strong characters. I think I should explore more roles and characters now. I am very interested in doing comedy, negative roles or something that has action-drama. I want to do something new, so that people can also see the different sides I that have to show. Whatever comes my way and is interesting, I’ll do it.”
But Erica points out that reaching the big screen is not her ultimate goal. “For me, content matters and whatever I take up now, I want to be a part of shows that have good content – be it on the small screen or the big screen. I need something that will challenge me as an actor,” she shares.

‘Like to keep my personal life private’
Last year, Erica gave fans a glimpse of her personal life on social media when she had posted about ‘someone special’ in her life. But says that she likes to keep it private. “Not many know about my personal life but last year, I kind of posted about it for people to know, though not completely. I like keeping my personal life private and that’s about it,” she says.
