Bletilla striata
Chinese Ground Orchid
Description
A Hardy, herbaceous terrestrial orchid that grows to 40cm, and 30cm wide.
In springtime, after dormancy, a lime green pleated leaf will emerge, from the previous year’s tuber. This is then followed by a group of dainty purple to pink orchid flowers.
Suits a full sun to part shade position, in well-draining soil.
Maybe grown in a container, or can be a wonderful feature in a rockery garden. Can also be used as a cut flower.
