Leaves are alternate, simple, and pinnately veined Leaf blade lobed or unlobed Tiny flowers, inconspicuous, unisexual or some of them perfect

Leaves are 1-5” long, elliptic with toothed Margins.The leaves are marcescent, meaning They turn brown in the fall, but don’t fall off Until very late in the winter. Bark is smooth and light gray.
