Desmazeria is a tufted perennial to 30 centimetres but often prostrate and short. The leaves area flat, hairless or with few scattered hairs. The flower-head is a green to purplish, terminal spike-like, dense, cylindric panicle (grouping of flowers on stalks).
Native to South America this species is a common grassy weed of the Surf Coast. While common it rarely forms large infestations.
