Gaping Penstemon
Formerly this genus was placed in the Scrophulariaceae (figwort) family.
Seen blooming in July in two places, the Santa Ynez Riverbed on Cold Spring trail (near Mono), and off Lockwood Valley Rd. in a dry wash. The first at about 450m (1500ft) and the second at 1500m (5000ft).
