Leucadendron ‘Ebony’
Leucadendron is a South African genus in the Protea Family, and members of the group generally have small heads of flowers that would not be very showy except for the colorful bracts that surround them. 'Ebony’ is a hybrid selected for its very dark leaves (almost black), but it puts on a burst of red when it comes into flower, as can be seen here. The dark purple-black of the leaves contrasts wonderfully with the red of the bracts, with the whitish oval at the center being the actual flower head.
