Global description

Phaulopsis verticillaris is a small protrate to erect dicotyledonous, herbaceous, measuring approximately 50 cm in height. The stem is pubescent, with reddish nodes. The leaves are opposite, simple, unequal in a pair, carried by a petiole from 0,2 to 1,6 cm. The blade of 1,5 to 12 cm length and 0,4 to 3,5 cm broad is oval to lanceolate, with pointed top and dissymmetrical base. The inflorescences are terminal or axillary, forming a kind of spike, the flowers are small and white, formed of 5 very unequal sub-free sepals and with a tube-shaped corolla at the base, discreetly bilobed with a bilobed upper lip and a trilobed lower lip. The fruit is an oblong capsule with 2 chambers each containing 2 seeds.
