Field Bindweed Convolvulus arvensis

Plant height up to 1.5 m. Flower width 2-2.5 cm.

A disitinctive trumpet-shaped, pink and white striped flower, which can also be just plain white or pink. The flowers are weather sensitive, and will close during rain and during the night, and will reopen during the day in sunny weather. The leaves are oblong and arrow-shaped. A rapid growing creeping perennial which entwines itself with tendrils arond other plants and shrubs to gain height or to move along the ground.

It flowers June to September, and is found on arable land, hedgerows, brownfield sites, railway embankments and along canals. A native species which is common and widesprea through Britain except the far north.
