Determined according to the botanical key provided in Flora Europaea Vol. 5 (Tutin et al., 1980) as Bromus sterilis L., Sp. Pl. 77 (1753). The accepted name in The Euro+Med PlantBase (source: Valdés & Scholz; with contributions from Raab-Straube, & Parolly, 2009) is Anisantha sterilis (L.) Nevski, in Trudy Sredne-Aziatsk. Gosud. Univ., ser. 8b, Bot. 17: 20. 1934.

Distribution: Native to Europe, Mediterranean to Central Asia; Russia – Krasnoyarsk according to the distribution information provided by the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).

Habitat: Among bushed and trees, disturbed ground.

Lifeform: Annual; therophyte according to the Raunkiær system.

Flowering period: Spring (APR, MAY).
