Lifeform: Perrenial; hemicryptophyte according to the Raunkiær system.
Distribution: Native from Europe to Iran, Northwest Africa according to the Plants of the World Online portal (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew).
Habitat: Found in wet habitats, near streams and rivers, sandy soils, from the lowland up to c. 1600 altitude.
Flowering period: Spring -early summer: APR, MAY, JUN.
