The umbrella loch (lat. Elaeagnus umbellata).

Tree or shrub, up to 4 m high (maximum height - 4.7 m). The crown diameter of an adult tree is 160 cm.

Flowering occurs in June. The flowers are fragrant and pollinated by bees.

The fruits are bright red, ripen by October, are juicy drupes with an elliptical stone and sweet mealy pulp. Fruiting begins at 9 years of age. Growth rate and winter hardiness are average.

The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for making preserves, jellies, jams, candied fruits, and wines.

It is not picky about soil composition and acidity; it prefers well-drained soils. Drought and wind resistant. Sun-loving.
