Our first Aeranthes

on

Aug. 23, 2014: Ever since we saw an orchid whose buds resembled wingless hummingbirds at Taylor Orchids we were on a hunt for similar plants. When an Aeranthes grandiflora came up with an affordable price tag on eBay we jumped on the opportunity.

Aeranthes grandiflora internet picture(picture from Internet) The form of the flower of this plant looks strikingly similar to what we saw at Taylor Orchids.

Aeranthes ramosa budDigging thru my pictures from our first trip to Taylor Orchids (our haul that time documented at this post), we discover that it was a different Aeranthes that we saw. It was an Aeranthes ramosa. Still neat to finally add an Aeranthes to our family, tho.

Orchid count: #398

I use to have an Aranthes grandiflora. It was one of my first orchids. Most of it died in the freeze. I have one little growth left and I am hoping it will keep going.
