‘Akikaze nishiki’ is by far one of the most heat tolerant variegated maples. This cultivar is often referred to as an Acer truncatum though we feel Yano’s Book for Maples correctly list this splendid cultivar as Acer pictum dissectum.

In early spring the foliage is a bright pink on purple and has almost a metallic shine on its sharply divided leaves. Later in the season the foliage transforms to a dark green with cream variegation. ‘Akikaze nishiki’ is fast growing tree that can reach up to 22 feet overtime.
