Abstract

The Urweltmuseum GEOSKOP houses the geoscience collections of the POLLICHIA, one of the oldest German societies of natural history and conservation. It manages about 7000 paleontogical specimens, mainly comprising Carboniferous-Permian fossils from the Saar-Nahe Basin of SW Germany, Quaternary mammals of the Palatinate Rhine Valley, and Paleozoic tetrapod footprints from around the world. The museum commits itself to broad geoscientific education and research focused on Late Paleozoic continental biota.
