  • Broadleaf, evergreen, low shrub, ground cover, forming low, wiry mats 3.3 ft (1 m) in diameter.  Leaves are green, simple, alternate, squarish to round, less than I cm in diameter, about 2-4 mm thick, on thin, brown-red, wiry stems.  Flowers are inconspicuous, yellowish-white, up to three in axils. Fruit is black, shiny, about 3-4 mm long, produced in late summer. 
  • Sun to shade, quick growing, drought tolerant, adapts to rocky ground and garden soils, excellent for rock gardens and as a potted plant.
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 6           Native to New Zealand, and the Australian states of Tasmania, New South Wales, and Victoria.
