- Evergreen shrub to about 10 inches tall (25 cm), sticky stems. Leaves elliptic to oval, glossy dark green, silvery below, and smaller than those of D. cantibrica.

- Hardy to USDA Zone 6 Origin unclear, possibly hybrids of D. azorica and D. cantabrica. Sometimes listed as a subspecies, namely Daboecia cantabrica subsp. scotica or Daboecia cantabrica nothosubsp. scotica (nothosubsp. – a nothosubspecies is a hybrid between taxa at the subspecies level)
- Example: 'William Buchanan', a common selection, is considered very floriferous with crimson flowers. It reaches a height of 30-45 cm and a spread of 46-60 cm.
