Description
Sucker of Elaeagnus Commutata, h of cm 40-60
Central and southern regions of North America. The Listopadny bush of 1,8-3 m of height, in area to 5 m of height, forming numerous root suckers. The krone is shirokoraskidisty. Bark darkly grayish-brown. Prickles are absent. Escapes are brown-red, with rusty-brown scaly and star-shaped omission. Leaves of 3-6 cm of length and 1,5-3 cm of width, shirokoelliptichesky, are more rare to uzkoelliptichesky or uzkoyaytsevidny, with the roundish or shirokoklinovidny basis, shortly or more rare gradually pointed, rigid, but not leathery, naked, brilliant, on both sides densely silvery beloopushennye small scales and star-shaped hairs among which quantity of rusty and brownish occurs. Scapes are dense, short. Flowers small, hanging, collected among about 3 pieces in bosoms of leaves, outside silver-white from omission, inside yellow, with strong aroma. Nimbus to 1,2 cm of length, with narrow cylindrical tube and open blades. Fruits with a diameter about 1 cm, spherical, densely covered with silver-white omission, with mealy, dry, a little sweetish pulp, inedible. The stone is ellipse, stony. Blossoms since the end of May till July, very plentifully. Grows quite slowly. Grows in easy half-shade, vlagolyubiv. It is frost-resistant to minus 45 °C. In culture since 1813. It is quite eurysynusic only in Russia.
