How to fertilize Portulacaria Afra
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Portulacaria Afra after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Brand new plant Just purchased my first Elephant Bush and was looking for some advice. I repotted because roots were already growing out the nursery pot when I purchased. I kept the "root ball" intact for the most part. Did pull a little off the top area just to get rid of some dead debris and such. I noticed the stems aren't all connected towards a center base. I'm not sure if that's normal for this species or if the nursery planted multiple stems in 1 container. Again, replanted as is in a new terracotta pot that's about 1/2 inch bigger than the root ball of the plant. Was this the way to go? Should I have done something different? Any advice and tips on these plants appreciated. Thanks #ElephantBush

Hey there! I just received this plant as a gift and it means a lot to me - I’ve watered it and I think I need to give it more sunlight, but any other tips on how to properly care for it? Thank you!

Any recommendations? I am currently trying to bring this plant back to another life. Propagating for a couple weeks now. I took the stems out of water to let them dry up after a friend suggested that stem be completely dried out before beginning propagation. What do you guys think?

Is it recommended and safe to cut the extra long stems?

My plant is broken I went to repot my plant into a better pot with drain hole but turns out my plant might have drowned or be infected. Can I propagate the tree? I have already tried to baby the trunk and roots and repotted those. I’m very new to plant life so please help me anybody. #PropagationStation

What other plant parents say
I love my little Elephant Bush! For someone who wants to brighten up their space but has a very poor record keeping plants alive, this plant is perfect! I’ve had my bush since it was only a couple inches tall and within a month or so both of the sprigs have nearly tripled in height
