BLACK OAK

Black Oak grows in full sun, preferring moist well drained soils, but is adaptable to poor dry conditions. The bark on mature trees is almost black in color and the leaves have a glossy leathery look. Like all Oaks, this native tree has extremely high wildlife value. From hosting more than 500 species of Lepidoptera to feeding and sheltering mammals and birds, oaks deserve a place in your landscape.
