Ledebouria is a genus of mostly South African bulb plants in the Hyacinth family. As a whole they are not known as being cold hardy perennials for the south but fortunately there are exceptions! Ledebouria cooperi is a very cold hardy species well suited for both potted plant culture and full sun beds in Zone 8 and higher. The upright narrow foliage is adorned with vertical stripes of red. In spring spikes of small lavender blooms appear. Plants multiply well and are easy in raised beds. Each individual plant is fairly small so an order is the equivalant of a quart size pot. 6-10 plants will be sent. These are often connected with very thin stolons. One may plant as a whole in a clumps or separate for multiple plantings. This is a no fuss plant that deserves much more attention!
Grows to 10″ in medium to full sun. Hardy in Zones 8 and above
