Species Details

(Locally extinct) Twiggy Spurge was a newly established perennial of waste places. The sole local record is for Little Eaton (SK3641) in 1942. It is indigenous to central Europe and is the hybrid of Waldstein’s Spurge (XXE. waldsteinii) and Leafy Spurge (XXE. esula). Account for erroneous record E. esula. (Erroneous record) Leafy Spurge was recorded for Derbyshire on the basis of a record from Little Eaton (SK3641) in 1942 but this record was subsequently redetermined as Twiggy Spurge (XXE. x pseudovirgata). (See Clapham 1969 p. 223 & amend checklist)
