Phalaris Brachystachys Short Spike Canary Grass Seeds

Packet of 25+ Seeds!

This is a grass that is very common in many parts of the world.

It is known as short spiked canary grass in most English speaking countries, but also Alpiste vano, Rabo de cordero, Alpista brava, Glanzgras, Kurzahriges, Phalaris a epi court and Phalaris quadrivalvis.

This lot was apparently originally sourced from USA, and is the main variety on the ethnobotanical marketplace. It has been grown out several generations now at my place and has been selected for drought tolerance and general hardiness only.

Some selections of this species contain large amounts gramine, a toxic compound that can cause brain and organ damage, central nervous system damage and death in sheep.

It can also contain several interesting alkaloids including N,N-DMT and 5-MeO-DMT.

In seeds there is a large amount of variation due to the sexual reproduction of the plants, so there may be vast differences in composition and form, from plant to plant, in the same lot of seeds.

Clones do not have this variability, which can be a good or bad thing depending on your motivations.

Link here for other Phalaris Species.

I occasionally have “Big Medicine” and “Turkey Red” clones available too so hit me up via the contact form if you are seeking them. No guarantees, and postage is expensive, but worth a try if you are keen.

Anyway, easy to grow, and being a grass it is ideal for folks renting or with only small spaces, who still want to grow something green, brighten up the place.

Grown by me and the Mrs organically, no chems, no nasties, no problems!!!

NOT FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIA or TASMANIA due to added expense and drama involved.

If you decide to try and buy anyway, this item will not be sent. 🙂
