No world leader would raise his voice when addressing president Ranil Wickremesinghe, said UNP chairman Wajira Abeywardena.
The Sri Lankan head of state enjoys such recognition and respect due to his seniority, the MP said in speeches to party meetings in Balapitiya and Rajgama.
He is more experienced than the leaders of the US and UK, said Abeywardena.
It was only Wickremesinghe who accepted the challenge to revive the economy whenever the need arose, he went on to say.
Abeywardena urged everyone to support the president’s efforts to rebuild the nation, without any attempts at sabotage.
Speaking further, he said the UNP was being reformed with the party leader hoping to amend its constitution to suit present day needs at a party convention.
