English: A single ripe (fallen) fruiting calyx of Scopolia carniolica Jacq. dissected to show detail of dehiscence: calyx slit to base, with a single cut, and sides pulled back to reveal two-chambered pyxidium with operculum (lid) still somewhat attached but having liberated a single pitted brown seed and revealing more ripe seeds inside the capsule, ready to be shed.
The single fruit of the growing season produced by a cultivated (pot-grown) specimen of Scopolia carniolica Jacq. This Solanaceous plant of calcareous woodlands does not normally produce seed in any great abundance, spreading more by vegetative means, as clumps increase gradually in size.
