Description

It is a-herbaceous-perennial-rhizomatous-, reaching a size of 0.5 to 5 dm.-Rhizomes 2 to 4 mm in diameter.-Culms-erect, cylindrical, 1 - 3 mm in diameter, smooth.-Cat-filos-0 - 1, of straw or brown color, acute apex.-Leaves: basal 0-2, caulinar 1-2 (-5);-Auricles 0.5 to 1.2 mm, rounded apex, scarpy, green leaf yellowish, cylindrical, 1.5 - 12 cm x 0.5 - 1.1 mm.-Inflorescences in-terminal-panicles of 5 to 25 heads, 3 - 11 cm, branches erect to ascending;-Primary bract erect;-Heads with 2 - 10-flowers, 2 - 6 mm in diameter.-Flowers: tepalos greenish to straw color, lanceolate to oblong;-External tepals 1.8 to 3 mm, obtuse apex, mucronate;-Internal tepalos 1.6 to 2.7 mm, obtuse apex;-Stamens 6, anthers 1/2 filament length.-The capsules are equivalent to perianth generally exert, straw-colored chestnut, imperfectly 3-locular, oblong to oblong-ovoid, from 2.3 to 3.5 mm, obtuse apex, valves separating dehiscence.-Seeds oblong or oval, 0.5 - 0.7 mm, without glue.-It has a chromosome-number of 2n = 40. Mid-summer fruiting - autumn.-
