Kosteletzkya virginica

Seashore mallow

Kosteletzkya virginica, or Seashore mallow, is a perennial common in coastal salt marshes and brackish areas from the mid-Atlantic coast to Texas.

Its flowers resemble an hibiscus, with five large pink petals and distinctive yellow stamens. It’s tall, hairy stems reach as high as 1.5 meters in mature plants.

K. virginica prefers sandy soils and thrives in saline conditions.
