Erect plant to 1m tall, with hairs and roots underwater, with erect pneumatophores arising from roots. Petals orange-yellow and light brown seeds (Wiggins and Porter, 1971).

Habitat: Swamps, ditches, rivers, ponds and lakes (POWO, 2023).
