Summary[edit]

Description
English: Side-by-side comparison of the flowers from a wild stand of 'double claw' Proboscidea parviflora (flower on right) growing with Proboscidea louisianica (speckled flower on left). This photo shows that the two varieties of plants are distinguished by their flowers. Very important traditional indigenous edible and useful plants of the southwest United States. Proboscidea parviflora is one of several very similar varieties, distinguished by its purple/pink flowers with a yellow nectar guide stripe. The variety Proboscidea louisianica is distinguished by a paler whiter flower with distinct red speckling inside.
