Summary[edit]

Description Introduced, cool-season, annual, erect herb, 15–60 cm tall; hairless except for glandular hairs on the flowerhead. Leaves are whorled on non-flowering stems, otherwise alternate, sessile, linear and 2–4.5 cm long. Flowerheads are many-flowered racemes. Corollas are 2-lipped, 5–10 mm long, reddish purple to pink with a yellow palate; upper and lower lips are greatly recurved. Flowering is in winter and spring. A native of Portugal and Spain, it is found in disturbed sites; in isolated localities but not common.
