Summary[edit]

Description
English: Detail with ripe fruit. A heavy stem about 10 kg in weight, with many layers of small fruits. Fruit can be detached and eaten as is or cooked in a variety of simple to complex popular African recipes or pressed to extract oil. Individual fruit size 3.5 to 4 cm in length. Maturing red/yellow fruits are protected by stiffened dry protuberances, but when ripe easily detach. Not soft or sweet, fruits can be softened by boiling. Very little pulp over a kernel with a lot of fibers, but with flavor and high calorie oil content. A very important crop and food from West to Central to East Africa in the equatorial rainy climatic zone. Congo.
