Etymology of Trichilia:
Gk. tricheilos = three-lipped; tricha = in threes. The fruits are three-lobed and occasionally the leaflets are in threes, or possibly three-lipped.
Etymology of dregeana:
Commemorates the brothers Carl Friedrich Drege (1791-1867) and Johann Franz Drege (1794-1881) of Huguenot ancestry. Prodigious botanists and plant collectors in the Cape.’
