Etymology of Murdannia:
Murdan Aly was a plant collector and keeper of the herbarium at Saharunpore, expert on Himalayan flora. MUSACEAE The type-genus, Musa, is now known as Ensete. Antonius Musa (63-14 B.C.), a Roman, was physician to King Juba of Mauretania. Mawzah, Arabic for banana, is another possible derivation.
